Why Have we accepted Flexible display screens?

The Big question is why has todays society allowed Flexible screen displays to emerge and become a very real possibility?

Flexible screen display is a new viewing experience, which allows users to interact with it, and the majority of todays cultural society welcomes new technologies it is this willingness that has allowed OLED’s flexible display screen to emerge. Mobile phones are not just a way for people to communicate with each other, but a lifestyle, with this being the case people are expecting innovative new ways in which to intact with technology. OLED technology does enhance a consumer’s interaction, for instance the display has no backlighting like LCD, this means it uses less battery power allowing people to use their phones for longer.

Now that I have explained why I believe Flexible screen technology has been accepted and has been given the opportunity to grow I would really like to hear why you believe we have accepted Flexible displays!

  1. Does it really enhance viewer experience? I feel like all this new technology takes away from the experience because we are so focused on the new technology! How do people interact with the screen besides flexing them? Do they allow for an interactive component or 3D technology??

    1. No the screens them selfs don’t use 3d technology, the interactive component is being able to flex the phone and because the phone is flexible it Doesn’t brake as easily as glass screens do, though flexible display technology is not only used for phones, the OLEDS in flexible screens allow for the screen to generate its own light meaning it can be used in fashion. http://www.pinterest.com/pin/407575835001788899/

  2. I believe we have accepted flexable screens as it is a technology that is moving foward and allowing a more durable technology like a phone to be able to bend with the person (eg in their pockets) and not snap in two

  3. This is very cool technology. I think that its great how the power lasts longer and I wonder if the bent screen enhances the viewing experience.

    1. the curved design of a mobile phone can heighten the comfort for users, but for tv’s using flexible display screens it does make a large impact to the users viewing experience, Due to its curved design, these TV displays feels as though screen ‘wraps around’ the viewer, the viewer gets the feeling of being surrounded by the image. And just to add a little scientific fact because I haven’t said enough already!!
The curved shape of the screen is quite similar to the ‘Horopter Line’ seen by human eyes. This means that curved OLED TVs have a screen with a curved trajectory similar to a person’s ‘Horopter Line’ and because of this the viewer can have a constant focus, allowing you to enjoy more comfortable viewing without tiring your eyes.

  4. Wow, just another example of how incredibly technology is evolving and developing! Like you said, mobiles aren’t just for communication anymore… they are embedded into the fabric of our social community and are now considered a necessity as part of our everyday entertainment. The fact that the battery for these new flexible display screens lasts longer and the viewing experience is enhanced and more comfortable are just some of the many examples of how technology is continually developing in order to meet the needs of its users better.
